Metrolink Trains In The AV Episode 8! ~ SCAX 873 Returns!

Here’s a bunch of footage of 868 and the F125s making their normal runs up the AV line. One Friday I guess Metrolink decided to throw me and the other AV line railfans a bone and ran recently revived SCAX 873 up to Lancaster, then on top of that used it over the weekend. Shortly after this it was moved back onto a 5 car trainset. It wasn’t here long, but just long enough for me to get some clips. So here’s some footage of another F59 at work on the AV too! Really awesome to see them send another F59 up here, although I really love seeing 868. It seemed for awhile only 868 was running up AV. It had been rumored to me that 868 was in better shape than the other units and thus could pull up the grade better. I’m not sure how true that is however it’s definitely the one that runs up the AV line the most so I was pretty excited to see 873 making the run too. Despite being out of service and stored in Keller for nearly 3 years and taking Metrolink’s mechanical department over a month to get back up, 873 showed off some great strength in the canyon and successfully brought M265 into Acton a whopping 8 minutes ahead of schedule, its usual for the F59s and MP36s to come into Acton 2-3 minutes early while i’ve seen F125s manage to come in 10 minutes early. Some of that is the engineer of course, but the loco matters too.
