In this fourth part of the Stature of a Perfect Man series, titled "The Just Shall Live by Faith," we go beyond the initial definition of faith to explore how it functions as a daily requirement for the believer. Building on the foundation of the first seven virtues, this teaching focuses on the transition from living by Law to living by Faith. --------------------------------- The Proclamation of Faith The phrase "The just shall live by faith" is not a suggestion or a debate; it is a divine statement. The "Just": This refers to those who are already righteous. You aren't made righteous by your daily acts of faith; you live by faith because you have been made righteous through Christ. The Foundation: As seen in the Stature of a Perfect Man diagram, Faith is the bedrock. Every other virtue—virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience—must rest on this rock-solid foundation. If your foundation is cracked with doubt, the rest of the building will lean. ----------------------------------- Faith vs. Law: The Great Paradox The message draws a sharp contrast between following the "Message" as a set of rules (Law) and following it by revelation (Faith). Natural Benefits of the Law: Keeping the "Message standards" (no drinking, no smoking, decent dress) brings natural health and social benefits even if you don't believe. However, without faith, these works will eventually fail you when trials come. The Knowledge of Sin: The Law was given to show us our guilt, but it has no power to remove it. Only faith in the grace of Christ justifies the believer. Boasting vs. Grace: If you feel you "deserve" blessings because you keep the rules, you are living by a "debt" system. True faith excludes boasting, recognizing that we are "unfit" on our own but made righteous by Him. ----------------------------------- 00:00 – Scripture Reading: Habakkuk 2:4 and Romans 1:17 01:19 – Martin Luther and the Reformation: Breaking from the Law 02:30 – The Stature of a Perfect Man: Faith as the Foundation 06:13 – Defining "The Just": Righteousness before Acts 10:41 – Romans 3: Faith vs. Law and the "Advantage" of the Jew 13:45 – Righteousness vs. Holiness: Being "Fit for Service" 18:41 – When Unbelief Catches Up: Why people leave the Message 22:49 – Righteousness without the Law is Manifested 26:50 – COD (Conduct, Order, and Doctrine): A guide of wisdom, not a police manual 30:33 – Clearing the Guilt: The power of true forgiveness 38:45 – Romans 4: Abraham’s Faith counted for Righteousness 44:39 – Blessed is the Man to whom the Lord will not impute sin 52:33 – Experience brings Faith: Moving from a "bubble" to reality 56:48 – Personal Story: Walking 5km home at 5 years old in Newcastle 01:04:57 – Romans 3:7: Dealing with failures and accountability 01:11:34 – Space to Improve: Defining Grace in parenting and life 01:18:13 – Faith OF Christ vs. Faith IN Christ 01:20:18 – 2 Corinthians 13: Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith 01:27:15 – Lack of Ambition: Why believers drift into immorality 01:30:43 – Real Faith knows no defeat: The challenge of the prayer line 01:34:58 – Closing Question: What is your ambition in Christ?
