The following is Parce Domine from the Liber Usualis followed by the polyphonic setting by Jacob Obrecht (1457/8 -1505) This performance was part of Vox Reflexa's public dress rehearsal for its local audience at the First Presbyterian Church of Bloomington in preparation for its concert at the St. Louis Abbey Church concert later in the Spring. The vocal ensemble Vox Reflexa meaning "Echo", strives to present at the highest level, contemporary polyphony rooted in western medieval tradition. The ensemble has been heralded as "[a] balanced group of beautiful voices that brought the audience to its feet several times. The concert was a rousing success for all concerned. (Journal and Courier, 2010)" The members of Vox Reflexa are young professionals and alumni of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University who hold advanced degrees from the finest institutions from the USA, Latin America, Europe, and Asia. The ensemble was founded in 2009 by Benjamin L. Geier and is based in Bloomington, Indiana, USA. Parce, Domine, parce populo tuo: ne in aeternum irascaris nobi. Spare your people Lord: Be not angry Lord with your people forever. The Vox Reflexa website: www.voxreflexa.com
