I woke up to a cloudy morning. Slept well. I figured out it was only 76 km left to Santiago, and decided to split that into three days of 25 km. No need to rush things when your goal is in reach. The going was easy, small trails and rural roads. Soon it started raining. Later I came to Pontevedra, and found it to be a very nice town. The city is best known for its urban planning, pedestrianisation and the charm of its historic centre. It has been awarded several international awards for its urban quality and quality of life. The I followed an old roman road (#19). There are numerous archaeological sites throughout the country. All you have to do is choose an area. Go back to the times of the gladiators and emperors, and learn something of the civilisation that gave Spain such a priceless cultural legacy. it's amazing to think this road was built so long ago. I passed a stone with carvings saluting the emperor of that time. I arrived in the afternoon to Caldas de Reis and was lucky to find an open hostel on Rúa Real. The crew was very helpful, and I got tons of info about this interesting town well known for its hot springs and roman bridge. After a quick shopping at a local supermercado I made dinner, dried my clothes and enjoyed the WiFi in this clean and comfortable stay. It was an easy walk, but not that many cafes along the trail.
