ATSF 3751 & Amtrak Rail Safety display train goes to Fullerton, CA (1) spotted by JonRailVideos 9/20-21/22 On both September 20th and 21st,2022, we take the time to take a look at a neat special train being formed which consists of Amtrak equipment including an Amtrak Pacific Surfliner coach/baggage cabcar 6900, an Amtrak long-distance Superliner coach, Amtrak's 50th Anniversary Operation Lifesaver scheme unit AMTK 203 and finally a very special guest, Atchison Topeka, & Santa Fe Railway 4-8-4 Northern type ATSF 3751. The equipment was formed for Amtrak's Rail Safety/Operation Lifesaver event at the Fullerton train museum located just east of Fullerton train station and it's open to the public on September 24th from 10 AM to 5 PM and September 25th from 10 AM to 3 PM, leaving back to Los Angeles that evening. Prior to then, the equipment will be sitting in a pretty viewable position for the time being. On 9/20/22(00:12), we find the equipment still in the servicing area at Amtrak's Los Angeles 8th Street yard getting some neat vantage overhead views. After quite some time waiting right before sundown, the equipment relocated up to Amtrak's 7th Street coach yard where it'll wait until it's time to head for Fullerton. (2:02 for movement). The special Amtrak train then left the next day on 9/21/22(5:10), reported as train 970, left Los Angeles to Fullerton, led by Amtrak Pacific Surfliner cabcar 6900, at about 12 PM to the museum and we enclounter it first in Los Nietos/Santa Fe Springs, CA-right near the junction racing A774 while there, then we make it just before the train backed into Fullerton with ATSF 3751 now on the point. More to come sometime...perhaps even a 455amtrak angle of this train.
