Pastors may face jail time

Recent headlines such as, a pastor of the Soshanguve Church, has come under fire for allegedly using unconventional methods of having congregation members strip and then stepping on them to preach as well as other pastors letting them eat grass, snakes and drink petrol. In order to address the issue, the Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Religious and Linguistic Communities (CLR) has summoned nearly 40 churches to appear before the committee in Gauteng in November 2015. The summons was triggered by Pastors who claimed to heal and cure many illnesses and who also promised riches to people who joined their churches.
