Indigenous Archeology in Waterloo Region

In partnership with the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario - North Waterloo Region branch. Presented by Gary Warrick, Professor Emeritus, Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies, Wilfrid Laurier University. Waterloo Region has a 13,000 year Indigenous history, documented in hundreds of archaeological sites. Over the last two decades Indigenous peoples have been engaged in archaeology, adding their skills, knowledge, and voices to the writing of their history. Gary Warrick will provide an overview of the archaeological past of Kitchener-Waterloo, highlighting the importance of Indigenous involvement in archaeology and the identification and preservation of Indigenous archaeological and cultural heritage landscapes.
