The Split-Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) test is a common method to test the dynamic stress-strain response of materials. In this video the researchers were interested in the crack formation of the brittle material. The cracking is a very fast process and requires often ultra-high-speed cameras to capture the process. But in some cases motion blur is still a problem when using traditional light sources.
