Blake was paralyzed but was still handcuffed to his hospital bed. That inhumanity ignited protest. Kenosha declared a state of emergency overnight on August 24 after police vehicles were damaged. Armed militiaman showed up in the name of protecting businesses. Among them was a 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse. He came from the neighboring state of Illinois. He brought an AR-15-style semiautomatic rifle. On August 25, he killed two white protesters killed and injured a third one. He was arrested the next day and charged with first-degree intentional homicide. Why did Rittenhouse go to Kenosha? Why did he take a semi-automatic rifle with him. Why did he shoot unarmed men?
