Police Training and Tactics:To consider-Rittenhouse Trial

As we approach the end of this historic and pivotal trial, I ask you to consider some things: Rittenhouse were there illegally. He was underaged in possession of a rifle and had crossed state lines with it. If you have a problem with the victims being victims because they were rioting or vandalizing property, you must also acknowledge the criminal act committed by Rittenhouse and concede he shouldn't have been there either. He claimed to be there to render first aid and protect property. He was not authorized by the property owners to use lethal force to protect their property. He wast not qualified to occupy the position he did. He was not law enforcement. People who occupy a role using lethal force where they are neither authorized nor qualified are called VIGILANTES. Our criminal justice, in general, frowns on vigilantes. His self defense claim may set a dangerous precedent. If he can claim self defense while being in a location he has no legal standing to be in, and is in fact committing a crime while being there, this opens the door to other people claiming self defense for using force against someone trying to stop them. I do not and will not argue or debate any of this. This is merely food for thought.
