American Flyer Link Coupler Tools 11-05-2024

Several of the YouTube channels I subscribe to have started showing some prewar American Flyer by Gilbert they have picked up and are repairing. This video features three small tools I made over 40 years ago. I use these when replacing link couplers on both prewar and postwar American Flyer rolling stock. I normally replace the link couplers with the truck still attached to the chassis of the car. The tools work best if the axle and wheels of the truck closest to the coupler have been removed. The removal tools work best if all pieces of the broken link coupler eye have been removed from around the coupler pin. That leaves a nice flat surface for the large hole tool to rest against the drawbar after placing over the coupler pin. For this video I am working on a truck that has been removed from the chassis for better visibility. Thank you for watching.
