Violin, music, production, and videography by Clare Pellerin Audio recorded June 2, 2025, in Amiskwaciy Waskahikan (Edmonton), video recorded on Sacred Buffalo Guardian Mountain (Tunnel Mountain), July 8, 2025 and in Amiskwaciy Waskahikan, Oct. 11, 2025, Alberta, Canada. Grateful to live and work in Amiskwaciy Waskahikan, on Treaty 6 lands and traditional territory of the Nehiyaw (Cree), Denesuliné (Dene), Nakota Sioux (Stoney), Anishinaabe (Saulteux) and Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) people, now home to many First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people. Thankful to the Nations of the Bow Valley and Treaty 7 area, also filmed in this video: the Stoney Nakoda, the Kainai (Blood), Siksika (Blackfoot), Piikani (Peigan), the Tsuut'ina, the Dene, the Cree, and the Métis people. Recognizing the need for wise stewardship of the land and waters, the need to respect Indigenous sovereignty, and the need for reparations. My ancient Gaelic ancestor has a vision of climbing a mountain in a land she does not recognize (Tunnel Mountain/ Sacred Buffalo Guardian Mountain), and of her descendant performing in a strange, sparkling city at night (Amiskwaciy Waskahikan). What does it mean? How do we show gratitude for the opportunity to live and work on this land? 🍁 Purchase track for download here: https://clarepellerin.com/music Listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/5TW06t... Thank you to Sarah Foscarini-Wilkes for leading us on such a beautiful hike up Sacred Buffalo Guardian Mountain (Tunnel Mountain, with views of Mount Rundle) and to Sarah, Nora Pellerin and Hanna Macdonald for their patience as I kept stopping to film on the way down. Thank you to the Creator for the waning Harvest moon that glowed above the cityscape 🙏 Thank you to Janine Windolph (Atikamekw/Woodland Cree, filmmaker, interdisciplinary artist, curator, and storyteller based in Saskatchewan) for pointing out the special meaning of Sacred Buffalo Guardian Mountain in her Q&A for the Alberta Motor Association magazine, Summer 2025. https://amainsider.ama.ab.ca/summer-2... Grateful to all my family and ancestors, Gaelic (Irish), and Gallo-Germanic (France) for all the hard work, learning, bravery, adaptability, and sacrifices that I still benefit from today. Blessings ✨
