Welcome to Measuring to the Nearest 1/2 Inch and 1/4 Inch with Mr. J! Need help with measuring to the nearest 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch (aka quarter inch) using a ruler? You're in the right place! Whether you're just starting out, or need a quick refresher, this is the video for you if you're looking for help with measuring to the nearest 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch. Mr. J will go through six examples of measuring to the nearest 1/2 inch, six examples of measuring to the nearest 1/4 inch and explain the process step-by-step. Please keep in mind, in this video, I use a ruler only marked with whole inches, half inches, and fourth inches. Depending on the ruler that you're using, you may have more tick marks in between each inch. Those measure other fractions of an inch. For this video we are focused on halves and fourths, so if you have multiple tick marks, make sure to locate the 1/2 inch mark and then the 1/4 and 3/4 inch marks. The 1/2 inch mark will be right in the middle of each inch and the 1/4 and 3/4 marks will be in between the whole inch marks and the 1/2 inch mark. Typically speaking, the 1/2 inch mark will be the longest tick mark in between the whole inch marks and then the 1/4 and 3/4 marks will be the next longest. ✅ Chapters and Timestamps 00:00 = Measuring to the Nearest 1/2 Inch 07:14 = Measuring to the Nearest 1/4 Inch About : Math with Mr. J is a math education channel that offers instructional math videos to anyone looking for a little extra help with math!
