Has the LOST LUMLEY PORTRAIT of Anne Boleyn been found, hiding in plain sight for decades? According to this new(ish) theory the Lumley portrait, once owned by John, Baron Lumley in 1590 and last seen at an auction in 1773, is in fact the Lyndhurst portrait of Anne Boleyn, hanging on a wall in New York and is also one of the famous B pattern portraits of Anne Boleyn, so-called because she wears a B pendant in them. Other famous B patterns including one at the National Portrait Gallery in London and the Hever Rose portrait at Hever Castle, Anne Boleyn’s childhood home. Furthermore, a proponent of this theory, an amateur historian named Elizabeth LaVasse, who has self-published her ideas, claims that the Lyndhurst portrait is the same picture as that seen in a 1926 photo taken of a now lost picture of Anne Boleyn by the Howard Young Gallery (though that idea is actually not original to Ms LaVasse and had been around on the internet for at least seven years before she published it). In this video from History Calling, I take you through the real history of the Lumley portrait, showing you primary source evidence that Ms LaVasse either failed to acknowledge, misunderstood or possibly even plagiarised in her short book. Using the original documentary evidence, including the will of Anne of Cleves, the descriptions of the Lumley portrait in an inventory from 1590 and in the 1773 sale catalogue when it was auctioned off, plus a possible mention of it in connection to the John Hoskins’ miniature of Anne Boleyn, I will demonstrate for you once and for all why I believe that the theory that the Lumley and Lyndhurst portraits are one and the same holds no water. I will also show you why, in my opinion, much of what LaVasse claims is simply fabricated, with not a shred of quality evidence to support it. This video will therefore double as both an art history documentary and a cautionary tale of how awry things can go when people with seemingly no university training as historians and limited source analysis skills try to parachute into this field. Please note that all accusations of plagiarism or any other misconduct and any criticism of any individual in this video, its description and any comments by me, are only my opinions. #LumleyPortrait #PortraitOfAnneBoleyn #LyndhurstPortrait #ElizabethLaVasse BUY MY BOOK (Find Your Irish Ancestors Online): https://amzn.to/3Z2ChnG Website (with 2 FREE DOWNLOADS): https://www.historycallingofficial.com/ Patreon: / historycalling Amazon storefront: https://www.amazon.com/shop/historyca...
