AKIRA TAUE started out as a sumo wrestler from 1980 to 1987, and made his debut for ALL JAPAN PRO WRESTLING in 1988... TAUE was one of ALL JAPAN'S top stars, but only managed to win the TRIPLE CROWN CHAMPIONSHIP once in 1996, this was also the year he won the CHAMPIONS CARNIVAL... The majority of TAUE'S success came in the tag team division, most notably with the legendary JUMBO TSURUTA and TOSHIAKI KAWADA, winning the TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP 6 times with the latter... After the split in 2000, AKIRA TAUE followed MITSUHARU MISAWA and the rest to PRO WRESTLING NOAH... While he remained a top star in the promotion, most realised TAUE'S best days were behind him, however in 2005 AKIRA TAUE did the unthinkable when he defeated the GHC CHAMPION TAKESHI RIKIO and became the champion of NOAH! Although his reign dident last long it was still considerd a remarkable achievment for a man who was approaching the end of his career...
