Eyal Berkovic, a former Israeli footballer who now hosts a news show on its Channel 13 channel, joked about going to war with Turkey next. On Tuesday's program, Berkovic referenced a joke he'd heard on social media comparing Israel's ongoing wars to a football tournament. The joke said that Israel had "beat Hamas on penalties" in the quarter finals, defeated Iran in the semi-finals, and would face Turkey in the finals next. While the comment was made jokingly, it does reflect growing tension between Israel and Turkey over Syria, where Israel has sought to occupy land and disarm residents in the country's south.
