The journey to #Larabanga started in Tamale, 628km north of Accra. First major stop was #Damongo town, where I had a quick lunch (rice, beans, stew). A co-traveller mentioned that it's the hometown of President John Mahama For most of the drive, the Savannah landscape stretched endlessly on both sides of the highway. It wasn't a busy highway, and I didn't see too many vehicles. At Tailorpe/WSDP village, I saw three women trekking home (I guess), freshly-cut trees on their heads. Larabanga is some 40 minutes away, from Damongo junction, and I couldn't help but notice the many speed bumps on the Damongo-Larabanga Road (there's one almost every kilometre). It's not that much of an inconvenience -- not when I'll be rewarded with a site inscribed on the #UNESCO Tentative List of World Heritage Properties, the Larabanga Mosque. This is a short video from my visit.
