Join us as we hangout with several of the amazing women that make up the team of 'underground astronauts' who unearthed a new human ancestor deep below the ground in the Rising Star Cave System in South Africa. This was incredibly difficult and dangerous work, each day they put their bodies on the line, taking a 45 minute trip each way, 40m below the ground, lowering themselves down steep ledges and squeezing through impossible spaces, with some passages being as small as 7 inches in width!!! We'll learn more about the team, their incredible discovery and classrooms will get a chance to ask them some questions. The Rising Star Cave System is the site of an astonishing discovery of over 1,500 fossil elements belonging to a previously unknown early human relative, now named Homo naledi.
