“Steam Train Blues” from Blue Guitars - Album Number Two - Country Blues. Blue Guitars is a Blues album released by Chris Rea on October 14, 2005 consisting of eleven CDs, one DVD and a full colour book, including paintings by the artist, liner notes and song lyrics. The album is an ambitious project with the 137 songs recorded over the course of 1½ years with a work schedule - according to Chris Rea himself - of twelve hours a day, seven days a week. Initially the project was inspired by Bill Wyman's "Blues Odyssey" and can be called an "odyssey" in its own right, for depicting a journey through the various epochs of Blues Music, starting at its African origins and finishing with modern-time Blues from the 60s and 70s. Subsequently the eleven CDs are titled the following: "Beginnings", "Country Blues", "Louisiana & New Orleans", "Electric Memphis Blues", "Texas Blues", "Chicago Blues", "Blues Ballads", "Gospel Soul Blues & Motown", "Celtic & Irish Blues", "Latin Blues" and "60s & 70s". SL Yamaguchi-go Steam Train, an engine model C571. JR West's SL Yamaguchi Gō - 1937 built 4-6-2 operates over 62.9 kms of the Yamaguchi Line between Shin Yamaguchi (known as Ogōri until 2003) to Tsuwano at weekends, sometimes double-heading with 1939 built 2-6-0 C56 160. Journey time: 120 minutes from Ogori. 99 minutes from Tsuwano. Steam locomotives used to be in service everywhere in Japan, and finished regular service 40 years ago. However, this later became available again on the Yamaguchi Line as a special service train travels to Tsuwano, known as “little Kyoto” in Sanin, in about 2 hours. SL Yamaguchi, an engine model steam locomotive train runs on JR West Japan Yamaguchi line from March to November on Saturdays and Sundays. Steam locomotives used to dominate Japanese railways but with the spread of electricity and diesel engines, they became outdated and were pulled out of service in 1975. Recently, retro trains have become a popular thing in Japan. The C571 steam locomotive train runs through the unspoiled countryside between JR Shin-Yamaguchi Station(Yamaguchi) and Tsuwano Station(62.9 km - 2 hrs). The C571 is nicknamed "The Lady", as its beautiful black solid iron body impresses SL fans. In order to ride SL Yamaguchi, you need to have a ticket with a specified seat. You can purchase it one month in advance from 10 o'clock at JR ticket offices all across the country Objectively speaking, the steam engine is one of the greatest inventions ever and riding the SL Yamaguchi-go through the unspoiled countryside of Yamaguchi prefecture is an experience worth flying to Japan for. Lyrics: Steam train goes so fast Goes so far away I hear that engine sing Listen to what it say Gonna get me on that track Get on board someday I hear that whistle blow She cry out in the night See the flame light a smokestack Such a beautiful sight She tell me she going somewhere And everything going to be alright Steam train blues She's in the distance now But I still hear her piston roar She's in the distance now But I still hear her piston roar Someday I’ll be on her Ain't coming back no more Steam train blues.
