Actress Pratyusha Case | Siddharth Reddy Surrenders at Nampally Court After SC Verdict

In a major development in the death case of actress Pratyusha, accused Siddharth Reddy surrendered before the Nampally Criminal Court in Hyderabad. The surrender comes 24 years after the incident, following directions from the Supreme Court of India. Siddharth Reddy returned from the United States and appeared before the court as ordered. The case dates back to February 23, 2002, when both consumed a soft drink allegedly mixed with pesticide. While Pratyusha died during treatment in hospital, Siddharth Reddy survived. Pratyusha’s mother fought a long legal battle claiming it was not suicide but abetment. A trial court earlier sentenced Siddharth Reddy to five years imprisonment, which was later reduced to two years by the Telangana High Court. Challenging this verdict, he approached the Supreme Court, but the plea was recently dismissed, directing him to surrender within four weeks.
