Later on, a loud squealing could be heard from the alternator location which makes it reasonable to assume it is the cause of the problem. Solution: Replace alternator while taking care to remove and properly reapply serpentine belt onto all pulleys (including the pulley on alternator). Battery may also be affected from lack of a charging source. May need to jump start vehicle to get it running or possibly replace battery if hesitation occurs thereafter.
