A rare novelty from 1917 that was issued only on piano roll, it recently was transcribed by Vincent Johnson and presented here by Frederick Hodges at the 2011 West Coast Ragtime Festival in Sacramento. As Frederick explains at the beginning, there was a Douglas Fairbanks movie called "Wild and Woolly" (with two L's) that came out the same year, so it's possible that this tune's "indian" motif was a reference to that. I suppose it's possible that the phrase at the time was synonymous with the Old West, therefore both the movie and tune got their titles independently around the same time by coincidence. http://www.frederickhodges.com http://www.westcoastragtime.com
