Thank you!   / otz   This video is for those interested in finding out what the Deluxe Room at the Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Resort, located in the Batu Ferringhi district on the island of Penang, Malaysia, looks like and what it has to offer. ~ Staycation Review ~ Stay Period - October 2022 Room Type - Garden Wing Deluxe Seaview Room ~ Check-in Experience ~ We stayed at the Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Resort in October 2022 and arrived at around 2pm. The hotel is located in the Batu Ferringhi district, which is known for its upscale beachside resorts. The lobby was relatively quiet, with only a short queue to check in. The lobby was more crowded when we checked out though. ~ Room Experience ~ At 42 sqm, the room is large, but average sized by luxury hotel standards. However, when you consider that some of this floor area is allocated to the balcony, then what's remaining left the room feeling slightly cramped. Nonetheless, the room hits all the right notes, with a relatively modern interior design language, a bathroom that includes a bathtub and a separate shower cubicle (but no rain shower) and a sitting area that seats 4. It just does all this in a compact way. ~ Pool & Gym Experience ~ The pool was large but not large enough considering the hotel's potential full occupancy. It was often crowded during peak times in the late morning and evening. Lawn chairs are aplenty along the beachfront but not so much around the pool. The gym was bright and well lit but the space it occupied did not seem purpose built for a gym. ~ Breakfast Experience ~ The breakfast buffet restaurant gets quite crowded and noisy around 10am. A wide selection of food options means there is something for everyone. Pros: Modern, clean furnishing. Good breakfast buffet spread. Private beachfront and activities are available as an option. Cons: Far from traditional tourists spots like Georgetown. Can get quite crowded during weekends.
