Why We NEVER Just Wing It With Campervan Travel

Are you a travel planner or do you just wing it when exploring in a campervan or motorhome? In this Vanners Collaborating episode, we share exactly how we plan our campervan trips, from routes and guidebooks to apps and travel folders. We talk about whether we are planners or spontaneous travellers when it comes to campervan adventures. The answer is simple. We are definitely planners. Working full time means our campervan trips have to fit around work schedules and school holidays, so careful travel planning helps us make the most of every day on the road. Join us as we walk through how we plan a two week campervan trip to Scotland, including the famous NE250 route along Scotland’s stunning northeast coast. From route mapping and travel research to campsite organisation and fuel stops, this video shows the real process behind preparing for a motorhome road trip in the UK. We also discuss one of the challenges of campervan travel in the UK, finding LPG fuel. Living in Cambridge means we are in something of an LPG desert, so we share how we use the MyLPG.eu app to locate LPG stations along our travel route and avoid fuel stress during the trip. Planning a campervan journey starts with maps. We combine digital tools like Google Maps with traditional OS maps to map out our route and discover interesting places to visit along the way. There is something special about spreading out a physical map on the table and exploring an area together while planning your next motorhome adventure. Research is another big part of our travel planning. We often look to YouTube for inspiration, but we also love using travel guidebooks to discover hidden gems and unique locations that are not always featured online.
