Len Beadell used the Phillip Ponds homestead as his base camp whilst surveying the future Woomera rocket testing range in SA. The first Trig point on a hill nearby was used by him for many years to come whilst building a large number of nuclear test sites including Maralinga & emu Plains. He also used this as his base Trig to construct a number of roads including the famous Gunbarrel Highway. Its sad to see it in such a state of ruin these days, just up the hill is Len & Anne Beadells graves in the Woomera cemetery looking over his favourite landmark,
