The Siege of the Alcazar is one of Europe's most heroic events to have taken place in the past century. In English, however, the topic has been horribly under-covered in recent times and been treated as some kind of side show. Colonel Moscardo's heroic defence of the Alcazar, however, is a great event of the Spanish Civil War and indeed in European history in and of itself. Very rarely in history have so few held off so many in such dire circumstances. If anyone deserves to have their story told properly in English then it is surely Colonel Moscardo and his Alcazarenos!
