Just some quick noodling with a patch I'd made on my Ventris. This vid is actually fairly old and I think at the time I'd just discovered this combination of the EchoVerb with the Shimmer patch (with the pitch shift turned down significantly). Debating Big Sky vs. Ventris? I had the Big Sky for a few years after winning one in a contest. I really liked the Bloom and Cloud settings quite a bit. Some of the more traditional sounds were ok, but nothing amazing to me. The Shimmer was a good shimmer and the Reverse very nice... but when the Ventris was announced I got super curious about it. Being able to do two verbs at once? Yes thank you. Ability to deep edit and add reverb algorithms with an editor? Ok sure. So ended up selling the Big Sky and getting the Ventris. Haven't really looked back. One of my favorite sounds on it is the Shimmer model, but with the pitch shifting (Option 1 knob) turned down and Option 2 (I think it's regeneration) knob turned up. That was the basis of the sound in this clip. I think this clip does a good job of showing how well Ventris can cop some of those really lush Cloud and Bloom sounds from the Strymon Big Sky
