IDcycLIB – Innovation platform for green and recyclable lithium-ion batteries Final video of the project | As part of the IDcycLIB project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research ISC, together with partners from industry and research, has developed new approaches for sustainable, resource-efficient, and recyclable battery technology. The aim of the project was to rethink the entire life cycle of lithium-ion batteries – from environmentally friendly production and digital traceability to direct recycling. Key project content and results: Development of water-based, solvent-free manufacturing processes for battery components Recycling-friendly cell design for automated disassembly and material separation Digital battery twins and a digital battery passport for recording material and process data Innovative recycling processes for recovering high-quality battery materials Life cycle assessments (LCA) to evaluate sustainability and economic efficiency Through the close integration of materials research, process technology, digitalization, and recycling, the project was able to develop practical solutions that make an important contribution to sustainable electromobility and battery strategy in Europe. This video provides an insight into the research work, demonstrators, and results of IDcycLIB and shows how innovative battery concepts can be made more resource-efficient, transparent, and recyclable in the future. 🤝 Project partners: Fraunhofer ISC, Fraunhofer IIS, puredevice, ipoint, RE-Elements, CEPA, polysecure, EURA AG 💡 Project funding: Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) 📍 Coordination: Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research ISC, Würzburg More information: https://www.isc.fraunhofer.de/en/pres...
