House of Rest Church teaching on the current operation and power of the Holy Spirit in preaching, healing, casting out demons and the gift of speaking in tongues. this channel has sermons, daily devotionals, bible study, Christian music videos and down to earth relevant Biblical teaching A) Big Idea Because Jesus’ entire life was one continuous act of humility—from leaving heaven’s glory to dying on the cross—true Christians must crucify their pride, walk in the Spirit, and enter 2026 with a deeply humble, surrendered heart. B) Key Points Jesus’ Humility Displayed Left heavenly glory and “emptied Himself” to become a servant (Philippians 2:6–8). Born into poverty, laid in a manger (a feeding trough), lived decades in obscurity. Identified with sinners in baptism despite being sinless; endured temptation by Satan. Served continually: healing, teaching, feeding, washing the disciples’ feet. Submitted to arrest, false accusations, beating, mockery, and the most shameful death—the cross—and even the grave. Our Call to Humility We love that Jesus humbled Himself, but if we call ourselves Christians (“like Christ”), we must do the same. Pride, defensiveness, and the need to be “right” are incompatible with following a humble Savior. True greatness in the Kingdom is expressed through serving others, not being served (Mark 10:45). God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4; 1 Peter 5:6). Walking in the Spirit, Not the Flesh (Galatians 5) You can only feed one: flesh or Spirit. Works of the flesh include not just “big” sins (sexual immorality, sorcery, drunkenness) but also enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy—and those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self‑control. To live humbly is to be “crucified with Christ” so that it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me—dead to offense, pride, and the old street mentality. C) One-Paragraph Listener Summary This sermon calls believers to start 2026 with genuine humility by looking at how deeply Jesus humbled Himself—from leaving heaven’s glory, to being born poor and unknown, to identifying with sinners, serving tirelessly, silently enduring rejection and false accusations, and finally dying the most shameful death on the cross. The pastor shows that following such a Savior leaves no room for pride, rivalry, anger, or division; those belong to the flesh, which Galatians 5 warns will not inherit God’s kingdom. Instead, we are urged to crucify our old selves, walk in the Spirit, and live as servants marked by love, gentleness, and self‑control. The year ahead should be shaped by the heart-cry of the song “Available”: “You can have it all,” as we fully surrender our reputation, pride, and past so that Christ alone is seen in us In this message, we look at how #JesusHumbledHimself and call believers to pursue #HumilityLikeJesus and true #ChristLikeCharacter. If we claim to #BeLikeJesus and #FollowJesus, we must #DenyYourself, #TakeUpYourCross, and live a #ChristianLife that walks in the Spirit, not the flesh. This #BibleTeaching / #SundaySermon unpacks Galatians 5 and Philippians 2 to help your #SpiritualGrowth, challenge your #ChristianLiving, and reset your #NewYearNewHeart focus for 2026.
