A phone conversation with Bruce Martire, Blueboy magazine's Creative Director, from when I was juggling working as a porn actor, and starting a new full-time career in the magazine distributing business. We both love magazine publishing, and share our enthusiasm about the business. In particular, we talk about the interaction between the editorial and distribution sides of the business. Both of us are familiar with the companies that distribute magazines to regional wholesalers throughout the country, which work under contract with magazine publishers. Our conversation provides an overview of a part of the magazine publishing business with an intriguing history that hasn't been documented very much. A lot of the concern about sexually graphic content stems from what regional wholesalers throughout the country can get away with or cannot get away with. Cable television programming is only beginning to compete with print media. Meanwhile, Bruce is still interested in hiring me for a bondage spread for Blueboy. While I want to do it very much, I am also worried that it may jeopardize my new career. Recorded in New York City, May 2, 1982. As of 1982, national newsstand magazine distributors include: Capital Distributing Company Curtis Circulation Company Eastern News Distributors, Inc. Flynt Distributing Company International Circulation Distributors Kable News Company, Inc. Time Distribution Services, Inc. Warner Publisher Services
