This is truly a delicious gratin that’s easy to make. Perfect served with some rice and a fresh salad. See recipe: Beef Casserole Casserole: 14 oz (400 g) thinly sliced beef (sirloin or flank steak works well) 3 Tbsp /msk soy sauce 2 Tbsp /msk veal stock (or beef base) 1 clove garlic, minced 1 package bacon (about 8 oz /140g), chopped 1 leek, sliced 1 red bell pepper, diced Sauce: 1 2/3 cups heavy cream (4 dl) 1 Tbsp /msk all-purpose flour (for thickening) 7 oz / 200g garlic-flavored cream cheese (like Boursin or Alouette) A pinch of thyme black pepper A little salt Instructions: 1. Slice the beef and place it in a large bowl with soy sauce, stock, and minced garlic. Let it marinate while you prepare the vegetables. 2. Sauté the leek and bell pepper lightly in a little butter. Cook the bacon until crisp. 3. Place the bacon, bell pepper, and leek in the bottom of a greased baking dish. 4. Spread the raw, marinated beef over the vegetables. Do not brown it first; it will cook in the oven and stay very tender. 5. Make the sauce: Bring the cream to a boil. Crumble in the garlic cheese and season with thyme, pepper, and a little salt. Let it simmer for a minute until the cheese melts. Whisk in the flour to thicken. 6. Pour the sauce over the beef and bake in the center of the oven at 425°F (225°C) for about 25 minutes.
