WELCOME to the first presentation of the FINE Lecture Series by Lami Yeo, MD, FACOG, FAIUM. This Series is a free educational program on the FINE (Fetal Intelligent Navigation Echocardiography) method, its features, and practical implementation in the clinical setting. The purpose of this presentation is to: 1) Provide background on the importance of congenital heart disease 2) Explain why sonographic examination of the fetal heart is necessary 3) Discuss why congenital heart disease is the most difficult of all congenital anomalies to diagnose prenatally FINE is a novel sonographic method to examine the fetal heart. This method automatically generates and displays nine standard fetal cardiac views simultaneously. It simplifies the fetal cardiac examination, shortens examination time, and reduces operator dependency. FINE has recently been shown to have high sensitivity (98%) and specificity (93%) for the detection of congenital heart disease.
