Eddie Condon's skills on the guitar were overshadowed by his skills as a bandleader, entertainer, master of ceremonies, organizer and ambassador for the music he loved. His guitar skills were impressive, but he seldom ventured into solos, preferring to stay with a flawless rhythm guitar to keep his combo together. Condon began his career in the 1920's and recorded well into the 1950's. He is considered a founder of the Chicago Jazz style, which developed as America's great migration saw scores of blacks move up the Mississippi River into urban environments.
