“The time of the singing of birds is come,” wrote Michael Longley in the final line of his poem Solomon’s Seal. That poem now forms the creative foundation for a new collaborative composition by Irish and Scottish musicians Julie Fowlis, Éamon Doorley, Zoë Conway, and John McIntyre, which will premiere at this year’s Belfast TradFest. Inspired by the poetry of the late Belfast poet Michael Longley, who passed away earlier this year, the ensemble has woven his words together with an elegant setting of the Gàidhlig poem "Do Bheithe Boidheach" by Scottish poet George Campbell Hay, performed by Julie Fowlis. The final arrangement has been beautifully scored for orchestra by Bangor-based composer Michael Keeney. ______________ Subscribe to Belfast TradFest at / @belfasttradfest376 Facebook - / belfasttradfest1 Instagram - / belfasttradfest Twitter - / belfasttradf TikTok - / belfasttradfest Sign up to our mailing list for festival updates, exclusive offers and behind-the-scenes content at https://www.belfasttraditionalmusic.c... #belfast #traditionalmusic #ireland #northernireland #tradmusic #musicfestival
