Turning a piece of applewood this size was a massive challenge. After the initial rough turning, I let the vessel season for three months. As expected with applewood, huge cracks began to appear during the drying process. However, I wasn't ready to give up on this "giant." I carefully stabilized and repaired the cracks using a combination of PVA and CA glue, turning these flaws into unique features of the piece. After the final shaping, I sanded the surface all the way up to 500 grit for a glass-smooth finish and applied linseed oil to bring out the rich, warm character of the wood. What do you think of this transformation? Was it worth the three-month wait? Let me know in the comments! Safety & Health Note: You may notice me wearing tight-fitting gloves in this video. I have a severe skin allergy to wood dust, which forces me to keep my hands protected during the process. Please Note: Generally, wearing gloves near rotating machinery (saws, lathes) is a major safety hazard due to the risk of entanglement. I take extreme care and maintain a safe distance, but I strongly advise following standard safety protocols and avoiding gloves if you don't have a medical necessity. Safety first!
