A former Cabinet Minister under Tony Blair has described the handling of Diane Abbott's suspension as an ‘unforgivably disgraceful way of humiliating her and mistreating her.’ Clare Short told Andrew Marr that she is no longer a Labour member because she'll be voting Green in order to give the party 'a shake'. Under their rules, membership is stripped of anyone advocating voting for any party other than Labour. Diane Abbott, meanwhile, has insisted she will stand as an MP following reports she has been "barred" by the leadership from standing under the party's banner.
