The American Medical Association (AMA) boycotted and tried to eliminate the chiropractic profession which violated the Sherman Act's rule of reason. The court found that the AMA's boycott of chiropractors was anticompetitive, lacked pro-competitive effects, and caused injury to reputation and lower incomes for chiropractors. The plaintiffs filed a lawsuit against the AMA and other defendants. The district court issued an injunction against the AMA, but the plaintiffs' claims against JCAH and ACP were dismissed. The plaintiffs appealed to the appellate court, which upheld the district court's decision. Wilk v.
