These centres are equipped to handle the most complex cases with specialised teams and advanced infrastructure available round-the-clock. Speaking to the media, Dr Krish Sridhar emphasised that timely, specialised care during the “golden hour” plays a decisive role in saving lives. He stated that early access to Level I Trauma Care Centres significantly improves survival and neurological outcomes, particularly in severe head injury cases. Dr Ranganathan Jothi highlighted that many traumatic brain injuries require urgent neurosurgical intervention, as conditions like intracranial bleeding and brain swelling can worsen rapidly without prompt treatment. Immediate access to expert care and advanced facilities can be the difference between life and death or long-term disability. Dr Aravindan Selvaraj noted that the observance serves as a reminder of the growing burden of trauma and the importance of strengthening emergency response systems to ensure faster patient transport to advanced care centres.
