Are you looking for a fun and affordable getaway?! Look no further than Mt. Ida and Hot Springs Arkansas. The Crystal Mining and bathhouse experiences can fit any budget! On our trip we stayed in a cozy cabin located in the Ouachita National Forest. This was about 20 minutes from our crystals mining locations and 1 hour from Hot Springs. We spent our early mornings digging for crystals and our afternoons and evenings at the attractions, shops and bathhouses of Hot Springs. Quartz Crystal Mines We Visited: Wegner's Quartz Crystal Mine is highly rated and well known for a reason! This was an exceptional experience for anyone looking to have a great time on their first dig! We were both able to find both large and small clear point quartz crystals. On site the guides told you where to dig to find the size of crystals you were looking for. The digging was not to rigorous and was done with a small gardening hand shovel. Sweet Surrender Crystal Mine was quite a unique experience! Here we were able actually chip and chisel quartz directly out of a sandstone pocket! Grace had better luck walking around and finding nice quartz points, while I was more fascinated with digging in the pocket. This was much more energy demanding, but worth the pieces we were able to find. Hot Springs, Arkansas: Hot Springs was quite a vibe. There was a lot of places to eat, shops with crystals and souvenirs and lots of bathhouses! We were really surprised at how much fun we had in Hot Springs. Bathhouse Experience at Quapaw Bath & Spa: For our bathhouse experience we went to Quapaw Bath & Spa. We got the Pineapple in Paradise Couples package which included a private mineral bath, Swedish massage, facial and foot scrub, which took about 3 hours. This was a nice time for a little rest and relaxation after spending the first two days digging for crystals.
