M.V. Balmoral cruise from Ipswich and Brightlingsea to London Tower Pier in July 2004

We join Balmoral at Ipswich in July 2004 and travel down the River Orwell past Harwich and Felixstowe. We then continue along the Essex coast past Clacton for a rare call at Brightlingsea to pick up more passengers . From there it's into the Thames estuary past the Swin Spitway and Wallet Spitway buoys with views of the World War II anti-aircraft forts and Southend-on-Sea. The tide is low as we pass Cliffe so we get a good view of one of the dumped concrete tower bases from the abandoned Nore army fort. We then continue up the River Thames, passing the former Trinity House lightvessel "The Gull" at Grays beach. Finally we pass through Tower Bridge to our destination at London Tower Pier.
