At the time of filming, J2534 devices were not compatible. Even now, not all J devices will be compatible with DPDU protocols. When using Jaguar/Land Rover (JLR) factory software known as TOPIx Cloud Diagnostics – DDA (Diagnostic Device Agent) or the previous generation Pathfinder software, a factory interface (VCI) must be used to connect the factory software to the vehicle. J2534 devices are not supported by TOPIx DDA or Pathfinder as the software will not be able to establish a connection. Pathfinder and/or TOPIx DDA is the factory diagnostics and programming solution for JLR vehicles that are running a DoIP (Diagnostics Over Internet Protocol) communication system. DoIP JLR vehicles begin with: 2017 model year for Land Rover Discovery, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport 2018 model year and onwards for all JLR vehicles except the Jaguar XJ that remains on SDD. iSCAN’s optional IMS2 (Interface Module Simulation) acts as a true OE diagnostic interface solution when using TOPIx DDA or Pathfinder.
