An ode to the Metrodome

In collaboration with Twin Cities Public Television's Almanac program, Morning Edition producer Jim Bickal created this musical tribute to the glory days of the Metrodome. On December 29th, the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions will play the last game ever inside the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis. Demolition of the stadium begins on January 18th in preparation for the construction of a new football stadium for the Vikings. Before they moved to Target Field in 2010, the Twins shared the Metrodome with the Vikings. Baseball purists decried the Dome as a terrible venue for a game they felt was meant to be played outside on natural grass. Despite the sterile environment, many of the most significant and memorable games in the history of the Twins were played in the Metrodome.
