LRTA {Light Rail Transit Association) visit to West Midlands Metro on Friday 21st March 2025

On Friday 21st March 2025, members of LRTA (Light Rail Transit Association) visited West Midlands Metro to look at the off-catenary running that is unique in the United Kingdom and then visited Wednesbury depot to look at the depot's operations and have a presentation on battery operation which is fitted to all 42 trams (21 CAF Urbos 3 and 21 CAF Urbos 100). We were able to "drive a tram" on the tram driving simulator which is the most advanced in the UK. We also saw tram 57 being wrapped as an allover advert for National Trust Blossom Watch. A brilliant day with the WMM team - see credits at the end of this presentation.
