According to Yellow Cab Co. tradition, the color (and name) yellow was selected by John Hertz as the result of a survey by the University of Chicago which indicated it was the easiest color to spot. New York City’s affair with taxis began in 1897. The city’s first gasoline-powered taxis, however, were imported from France in 1907 and painted canary yellow in order to be visible from a distance. Nowadays, NYC has more cabs than regular cars. 2. The Viennese Fiaker(Vienna) Vienna is famous for its horse-drawn Fiakers. If you would like to enjoy a romantic journey, you should ask the fiaker coach for a "porcelain ride", which is a particularly calm and steady drive. This was provided long ago to transport precious porcelain safely from one place to another. Today, it's a nice way to enchant your beloved. Although today these traditional horse-drawn carriages are mainly used for weddings and ceremonies, a fiaker ride makes for a memorable, authentic experience for the visitor to the elegant Austrian capital. 3. Three-Wheeled Tuk Tuks (Thailand) The auto rickshaw, called Tuk Tuks in Thailand, is a widely used form of urban transport in Bangkok and other Thai cities. The name is onomatopoeic, mimicking the sound of a small (often two-cycle) engine. An equivalent English term would be "putt-putt". It is particularly popular where traffic congestion is a major problem, such as in Bangkok and Nakhon Ratchasima. Drivers may also use their tuk-tuks to transport fresh produce or other goods around the city in absence of passengers. You cannot leave the country without experiencing the thrill of a tuk-tuk ride. Extremely popular in Bangkok and other Thai cities where traffic congestion is a serious problem, these exciting, three-wheeled vehicles, also called auto rickshaws, are a quick, fun way of getting around.
