On this trip, we drive along the Anhui–Zhejiang No.1 Highway, known as one of the most beautiful self-drive routes in Central China. Starting from Nanyuan Kou, we begin a stunning journey through the heart of the Xin’an River Landscape Gallery — a 50-kilometer stretch regarded as the most scenic and iconic section of this route. The highway links the Huangshan and Tianmu Mountains, combining the dramatic peaks of southern Anhui with the serene waterscapes of Jiangnan. Along the way, Hui-style ancient villages line the river like a string of pearls, earning this region the nickname “The Oriental Danube.” Though the weather began cloudy, the sky suddenly cleared as we entered this core section, revealing breathtaking views that made the trip unforgettable.
