Short video of the first Ponsee Elephant King forwarder in Tasmania. This is Unit 103 picking up a load of plantation Eucalyptus logs in the North West of Tasmania on a rainy winters day. The machine is fitted with the K100+ crane and an Australian made Randall's 0.36m grapple. This was the operators first day on the machine having spent his time with us on the Komatsu 895 that can be seen in the background of the clip. The operator said that he felt at home in the machine very quickly and that he found the Elephant King had a few points over the 895. Those being: The crane was very smooth and the machine was very stable when putting the first few grabs on the bunk. The travel speed loaded was good The ride comfort is excellent The cabin was much larger with better visibility He liked the load backrest extension and said he felt safer behind it than the 895 guard The Randall's 0.36m grapple (Australian made grapple) is nice I will be working on a video showing some of the differences between the Komatsu 895 and Ponsse Elephant King in the next couple of weeks. The weather was not very good today so I was unable to get the drone out but I'll get to that soon! The footage was shot with my Galaxy S9+ and DJI Osmo Mobile 2.
