Terry Jacks is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and producer who gained international recognition for his hit song "Seasons in the Sun" in the 1970s. Terry had a successful career as a musician before transitioning into production work. Terry began his musical journey as a guitarist and formed the Vancouver-based pop-rock band The Chessmen in the 60s. They released a few singles but didn't achieve significant commercial success. After the disbandment of The Chessmen, he joined the folk-pop group The Poppy Family, which he formed with his then-wife, Susan Pesklevits. The Poppy Family enjoyed considerable success in Canada and internationally during the late 60s and early 70s. In 1974, Terry Jacks released his solo single, "Seasons in the Sun," which became a massive hit worldwide. The song was an English adaptation of the original French song "Le Moribond" by Belgian singer Jacques Brel. "Seasons in the Sun" topped the charts in multiple countries and sold over 14 million copies globally. It remains one of the best-selling singles of all time. Following the success of "Seasons in the Sun," Jacks released several other singles and albums throughout the 1970s. Some of his notable songs include "If You Go Away," "Rock 'n' Roll (I Gave You the Best Years of My Life)," and "Christina." While he did not achieve the same level of success as with his breakthrough hit, Jacks continued to have a dedicated fan base and enjoyed moderate chart success. In addition to his work as a performer, Terry Jacks ventured into production and established his own recording label, Goldfish Records. He produced and recorded albums for various artists, including Nana Mouskouri. Terry's popularity waned in the 1980s, and he shifted his focus primarily to production work. He continued to work behind the scenes in the music industry and contributed to the success of other artists. Despite not achieving the same level of commercial success as he did in the 1970s, he remained active in music, occasionally performing and releasing new material. His latest release is Remember Me.
