What makes some people live longer than others? In this talk, Anuradha Acharya, MapmyGenome, explores the genetic factors linked to longevity in the Indian population. Using genotype data from long-living individuals aged 85+ and younger controls, the study identifies genetic variants associated with healthier aging and increased lifespan. Several variants linked to cardiovascular health, mental well-being, and metabolic pathways were found to be more common in long-living individuals, including the well-known FOXO3A longevity gene. The findings highlight how genetic pathways related to oxidative stress, DNA repair, and energy metabolism may play a crucial role in shaping longevity in Indians. 🔔 Subscribe and stay tuned!
