For instance, Mary’s song begins with the word “magnify,” which in Latin is “Magnificat.” It’s a word that means to magnify, exalt, glorify, and make big. Yet Mary is a young, teenage girl living in an impoverished part of the Roman empire. If anything was big, it was Rome. Nevertheless, Mary’s song exudes a fiery confidence in God’s faithfulness despite centuries of foreign oppression. Consequently, Mary was blessed for her belief. But as you’ll discover in this episode, Mary’s unhesitating belief didn’t just happen.
