This is one very detailed video showing a teardown, disassembly of the Canon Megatank G5050, to allow the waste ink system to be connected to an Printer Potty external waste ink kit. The kit is an integral part of the process and can be purchased via: https://www.printerpotty.com/kit/g5 Because of the length this video we've provided timings for each chapter/section so you can locate relevant parts much easier. A separate video covering the waste ink counter reset process (with the WICReset app) will be provided at a later date (we'll update this description with a link when it's online). ==Video Contents== 00:00 - Intro 00:22 - Kit/Tools you'll need 01:52 - DISSASSEMBLY 04:02 - Remove side panel #1 06:09 - Remove side panel #2 07:06 - Remove cable cover 07:34 - Remove ink covers 08:39 - Remove screws (pt.1) 09:22 - Remove control panel 10:18 - Remove screws (cont) 11:57 - Remove front covers 12:29 - Remove upper case 14:25 - ID Waste Tubes 17:07 - Connect internal waste tube 21:20 - Upper case mod 23:50 - Side panel mod 24:04 - ID drill location 25:30 - Drill side panel #2 26:03 - REASSEMBLY 26:37 - Paper guide 27:13 - Upper case prep' 28:31 - Upper case 29:31 - Control panel 30:50 - Front covers 31:21 - Ink covers 31:55 - Cable cover 32:10 - Screws 34:06 - Check tubing path 34:33 - Side panel #1 35:51 - Side panel #2 (prep) 36:51 - Side panel #2 40:10 - Pep talk 41:40 - Side panel #2 (repeat) 42:35 - Last screws 43:00 - Custom approach? 44:37 - Replace lid/top 45:28 - Fit external tubing and waste tank 47:17 - Last words 49:43 - Feedback Please Last thing to note... We have a G6050 and G7050 waiting to get the same treatment as this BUT... ...we really need to generate enough interest and genuine G5 Printer Potty kit sales to cover the considerable cost in time and money that this video took. A 50 minute video is going to put some people off fitting a waste kit so we need to know it's worth the effort through feedback, likes, shares and (yes it would be nice) actual kit sales. We're less concerned about the financial incentives here and more want to know it will actually be useful so please do feedback, and let us know if/what we can do to improve on this an other similar videos. If there's enough interest we will look at whether we can include more Canon printers in our future resources and videos. Thanks for reading this long pre-amble and we definitely hope this will help keep these printers going for years yet.
